US President Joe Biden has announced an additional $250 million in security assistance for Ukraine, aiming to enhance their defense capabilities. The announcement was made by US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin during the 24th meeting of the Ukraine defense contact group at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.
Austin emphasized the unity and commitment of the coalition, consisting of around 50 nations, in supporting Ukraine. The aid package will address Ukraine’s evolving needs and will be delivered swiftly to meet urgent requirements.
The meeting, attended by senior military officials from various countries, will focus on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and coordinating international support. Austin described the current situation as “dynamic,” with Ukrainian troops advancing into Russia’s Kursk region and Russian forces moving south of the Donbas city of Pokrovsk.
The 24th session of the Ukraine defense contact group highlights the continued international efforts to support Ukraine in times of crisis.
