Three men were shot dead at a Lamontville shisanyama in March, including a metro VIP protection officer, prompting their families to seek justice in the Durban magistrate’s court. Thandolwenkosi Nzimande, 21, appeared in connection with the murders, where a group of men approached the victims leading to a fatal confrontation. Nzimande was arrested in uMlazi by the Hawks’ Durban serious organised crime investigation unit and metro police.
During the court appearance, Nzimande faced scrutiny for discrepancies in his place of residence, initially claiming to be from uMlazi but later stating Bulwer as his home. With the prosecutor opposing bail, Nzimande was detained until September 10. Despite attempts to avoid cameras, Nzimande appeared distressed and emotional as he left the courtroom.
