Ukrainian President Seeks Increased Western Military Support
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to visit the US Ramstein Air Base in Germany to request additional military aid from Western countries in the ongoing conflict with Russia. The meeting will involve the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, also known as the “Ramstein” group, although the German government has not confirmed Zelenskyy’s attendance.
The Ramstein Group
Formed by over 50 nations to support Ukraine against Russian aggression, the Ramstein group was established at the beginning of the war in February 2022. The upcoming gathering will mark the 24th meeting of the group to coordinate arms support for Ukraine.
Zelenskyy’s Request
Zelenskyy aims to secure permission to use Western-supplied long-range weapons in Russia, a topic that may be discussed during the meeting. Amid concerns of possible disruptions in military aid, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz reassured continued support for Ukraine.
As the conflict continues, the international community remains focused on providing necessary assistance to Ukraine to combat Russian forces. Stay tuned for updates on the outcome of Zelenskyy’s visit to Ramstein.
