US accused of ‘cleansing’ media space of ‘inconvenient truth’ – Moscow

Washington’s Ambassador Anatoly Antonov has accused the US of fueling Russophobia through new sanctions targeting Russian media. Antonov claims that these measures are an attempt to conceal the “inconvenient truth” and further solidify the US administration’s anti-Russia stance.

The renewed effort by US officials to impose sanctions on Russian media outlets like RT is seen as an attempt to counter alleged government-sponsored efforts to influence American public opinion. The sanctions include charges against RT employees for money laundering and visa restrictions on individuals deemed to be acting on behalf of the Russian government.

Antonov criticized the sanctions as an extension of the aggressive witch hunt against dissent and a tactic by US Democrats to shift blame for their electoral mistakes onto Russia. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova condemned the sanctions, accusing the US of irreversibly degrading democratic values.

The measures have sparked heated reactions, with RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan mocking Washington’s claims of election interference. The ongoing sanctions war between the US and Russia reflects a broader narrative of political tension and information warfare.
