President Bola Tinubu instructed Vice President Kashim Shettima to convene an emergency meeting at the Presidential Villa to discuss the recent fuel price increase. The meeting included the Minister of State (Petroleum), Heineken Lokpobiri, and the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC, among others.
Lokpobiri emphasized that the President is attentive to the hardships faced by Nigerians and assured that there is enough fuel in the country. He reiterated that the government does not fix prices and believes that with product availability, prices will stabilize.
The Executive Director of NMDPRA emphasized efforts to stabilize supply and support local refiners to increase production, thereby positively impacting price stability.
The meeting aimed to address concerns about fuel availability and pricing, emphasizing that panic buying is unnecessary. The government is committed to ensuring a stable supply of fuel across the country.
