Is the Middle East entering a ‘new normal’? Israel-Palestine conflict.

Former US ambassador to Israel, Daniel Kurtzer, has highlighted the US’s ‘weakness’ in addressing Israel’s ‘extreme government’. According to Kurtzer, the expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank and the refusal to acknowledge Palestinian self-determination will only lead to further conflict in the Middle East.

In a conversation with host Steve Clemons, Kurtzer expressed concerns over the US’s inability to effectively deal with the current situation in Israel. He pointed out that the recent war in Gaza has underscored this weakness in US diplomacy, as the violence continues unabated.

With no resolution in sight, the conflict between Palestine and Israel is only set to worsen. Kurtzer’s remarks serve as a reminder of the urgent need for diplomatic intervention to address the root causes of the ongoing violence in the region.
