Chinese spy agency warns youth of the dangers of being deceived by physical attraction

China’s Ministry of State Security (MSS) has issued a warning about attractive partners being potential honeypots aiming to lure young people into spying for foreign countries. The agency cautioned students with access to sensitive information to be wary of individuals who may be disguising themselves as close friends or offering high-paying part-time jobs as a means to gather information.

The ministry highlighted that foreign intelligence agencies often target young Chinese students, exploiting their curiosity and willingness to try new things. While specific agencies were not named, China has a history of exchanging espionage accusations with the US and the UK. This warning follows recent scandals in New York and Beijing involving individuals accused of acting as agents for foreign governments.

As part of its efforts to combat espionage, the ministry has been actively educating the public on counterintelligence measures. By raising awareness about the tactics used by foreign agencies, the MSS aims to protect Chinese citizens from falling into traps set by spies.
