Brazilian police and IDB sign cooperation agreement
Brazil’s Federal Police Director General Andrei Rodrigues and the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) representative in South America, Morgan Doyle, signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate in combating organized crime and protecting the environment in the Amazon Basin. The agreement was formalized during the XIV Ordinary Ameripol Summit in Foz do Iguaçu, on the border of Paraguay and Argentina.
Rodrigues expressed gratitude for IDB’s support in facilitating Federal Police initiatives and emphasized the significance of partnership in enhancing security in the region. The agreement aims to apply crime-solving technologies, intelligence systems, training, pilot projects, and technical assistance to improve police operations and forensic databases.
The collaboration will focus on promoting governance, management, and data exchange among police forces in Brazil, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Federal Police will share expertise in implementing innovative solutions to prevent criminal activities, including programs like Brasil MAIS and Ouro Alvo.
