The US Embassy in Juba has taken a proactive step in enhancing South Sudan’s public health capabilities by delivering 96 Mpox test kits to the National Public Health Laboratory. This contribution, made possible by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), aims to bolster the country’s ability to detect and respond to disease outbreaks effectively.
Ambassador Michael J. Adler emphasized the importance of this support, highlighting the broader initiative to improve public health preparedness in South Sudan. In addition to the test kits, the US Embassy will provide ongoing technical assistance, including CDC’s involvement in the South Sudan Field Epidemiology Training Program, which has already trained 177 field epidemiologists to strengthen the country’s disease surveillance system.
This commitment underscores the US’s dedication to promoting better health outcomes in South Sudan. The Embassy urges the transitional government to increase its investment in the health sector to further advance healthcare services for the South Sudanese population.
With a promise to continue supporting life-saving medical care, the US remains steadfast in its efforts to assist South Sudan in building a resilient and responsive healthcare system.
