Investigation Launched on Chief of Staff of Ukraine’s Drone Forces
Kiev has initiated an investigation into Roman Gladky, the Chief of Staff of the Unmanned Systems Forces, following reports that his family resides in Russia. The decision to suspend Gladky was made after a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada security committee, as announced by the General Staff on Telegram.
Aleksandr Syrsky, Ukraine’s top general, has ordered the Security Service of Ukraine to conduct a special inspection regarding Gladky. During this period, Gladky will be relieved of his official duties. The USF, established as a separate military branch in February, placed Gladky in charge of planning in August.
The probe was triggered by allegations that Gladky’s wife holds a Russian passport and resided in Crimea after its annexation by Russia in 2014. Criticism from military bloggers has also surfaced, questioning Gladky’s suitability for the role. This event occurs amidst a significant government reshuffle in Ukraine, including dismissals of top officials following issues related to the armed conflict with Russia.
