Rep Leke Abejide partners with independent power firms to tackle power supply issues in Yagbaland

Leke Joseph Abejide, a second-term member of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on Customs and Excise, recently met with the Yagba Action Group (YAG) in Abuja. The YAG is a group of professionals and technocrats from Abejide’s home constituency in Yagba, Kogi State.

During the meeting, the YAG highlighted pressing issues in the Yagba Federal Constituency, including the need to address long-standing electricity supply challenges and the establishment of skill acquisition centers. The group emphasized the importance of engaging youth in productive activities to reduce unemployment and underemployment.

Abejide’s plans include setting up skill acquisition centers to identify and support serious individuals, introducing a Tractor Usage Revolving Initiative to modernize agriculture, and securing resources for infrastructure development, including roads and healthcare facilities. The discussion also touched on leveraging independent power companies for electricity supply improvements and addressing insecurity caused by armed herdsmen.

Abejide emphasized collaboration with Senator Sunday Karimi and the need for synergy to drive development in the region. With a focus on human capital development, food security, and infrastructure, Abejide and the YAG are committed to creating a better future for the Yagba Federal Constituency.
