Kosovo Responds to Foreign Criticism of Closure of Serbian Institutions

The recent closure of five Serbian parallel municipalities in the north of Kosovo by the police has stirred up criticism towards the Kosovo government, particularly for straining relations with the United States. Despite initial backlash, political analysts have deemed the government’s actions as necessary in accordance with past agreements.

While demands for maintaining good international relations have been voiced, Kosovo authorities have yet to address the criticism from the global community. The move has been condemned by international sources as potentially escalating tensions unnecessarily and jeopardizing Kosovo’s reputation.

Experts like Basri Muja and Dorajet Imeri emphasize the importance of eliminating parallel structures in Kosovo, echoing agreements made between Kosovo and Serbia. The Minister of Local Self-Government in Kosovo, Elbert Krasniqi, announced the closure of several facilities belonging to parallel Serbian institutions in the region.

This decisive action signifies a step towards enforcing long-standing agreements and fostering stability in the region.

By addressing contentious issues and taking proactive measures, Kosovo moves closer towards solidifying its stance on the global stage.
