Ex-CFMEU leader disgraced, confronts Albanese at government site

Former CFMEU boss John Setka has caused a stir by unexpectedly showing up at a new development and verbally attacking Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

After stepping down following allegations of underworld involvement in the union, Setka made a surprise appearance at Footscray Hospital, a major project in Victoria. Declaring his intent to protect the union, he defiantly announced his resignation amid controversy.

Setka later targeted Albanese, implying government interference in his resignation. While Albanese denies this, Federal Opposition Leader Peter Dutton suggests otherwise.

Premier Jacinta Allan, committed to cleaning up CFMEU sites, expressed surprise at Setka’s unexpected speech. Multiplex, the main contractor, disavowed his appearance and is investigating how he accessed the site.
