E. Equatoria parliament speaker shuffles SPLM Party committee heads

The Eastern Equatoria State Transitional Legislative Assembly made significant changes on Monday, relieving several SPLM Party members from their positions and appointing new members. Speaker Charles Udwar Ukech announced the removal of seven SPLM Party legislators from their roles, including the Party Chief Whip and chairpersons of specialized committees. Among those replaced was the late Fr. Dominic Otwari Theodore, who was succeeded by Hon. Alphonse Muras Chacha as the education committee chairperson.

In addition, Peter Otim Karlo was replaced as the SPLM Party Chief Whip by Dr. Magret Itto Leonardo. Other chairpersons and deputies relieved included those from committees of public service, physical infrastructure, education, finance and planning, and security and public order. Former Chief Whip Peter Otim Karlo acknowledged the changes as routine and welcomed them, allowing him to focus on his business ventures.

Newly appointed deputy chairperson Julius Amin Ben expressed gratitude for his role in the parliamentary education committee, emphasizing his commitment to improving education in South Sudan. The reshuffling reflects the assembly’s commitment to effective representation and service delivery in Eastern Equatoria State.
