Self-proclaimed whistleblower, Isaac Tamunobifiri, also known as PIDOM, was ordered by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja to be remanded in Kuje Correctional Facility. He faces nine counts, including alleged money laundering, cybercrime, and disseminating classified secret documents.
PIDOM was accused of using social media to mobilize support against the government and spreading false information. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and his bail application was objected to by the prosecution.
The police alleged that PIDOM obtained funds from unlawful activities and tampered with evidence by trying to destroy his phone. Investigative journalist David Hundeyin and Michael Alade were identified as accomplices of PIDOM.
The Police spokesperson stated that PIDOM’s arrest was necessary to protect national security and maintain order. The police are also investigating Hundeyin and Alade in connection with the case.
