The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is moving forward with the acquisition process for the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR), issuing final notifications for the acquisition of 78 acres in various areas. This move comes after the preliminary notification issued in April 2020 for a total of 750 acres.
With pressure to prioritize the long-pending PRR project, BDA has been releasing public notices seeking objections from 367 property owners who will be affected in Yelahanka, KR Puram, Bidarahalli, Varthur, Sarjapur, Dasanapura, Yeshwantpur, and Hesaraghatta hoblis.
The 750 acres are crucial for completing the missing links of the PRR, which was initially proposed in 2007 with a notification to acquire 1,810 acres. However, the compensation structure for farmers has not been clearly defined, with landowners pushing for compensation under the 2013 Land Acquisition Act.
While the BDA has presented three types of compensation structures to the government for consideration, the final decision is expected to be made by the state cabinet.
