ANC Youth League leader Collen Malatji is urging the EFF to consider joining the government of national unity (GNU) now that Floyd Shivambu, seen as a barrier, has left the party. Malatji’s statement was a response to criticism from SACP general secretary Solly Mapaila, who accused the ANC of betraying South Africans by collaborating with the DA.
Malatji emphasized that those who oppose the structure of the GNU should recall their representatives and focus on winning future elections independently. He highlighted that the door is open to all, including the EFF. He suggested that with Shivambu no longer in the EFF, it might be the right time to extend another invitation to the party, as Shivambu’s resentment towards the ANC was a stumbling block.
Malatji stressed the importance of the GNU in addressing socio-economic challenges under the leadership of President Cyril Ramaphosa. He emphasized the need for unity and collaboration to build a better future for all South Africans.
