5G, 6G deployment will drive growth for developed nation: DoT Chief

India is already thinking ahead to 6G after successfully rolling out 5G, according to Telecom Secretary Neeraj Mittal. The new Telecommunications Act replaces the old Telegraph Act, setting the stage for future advancements. Mittal emphasized the importance of continuous technological evolution, urging policymakers to learn from global manufacturing giants like Vietnam and China. He believes that India’s planned industrial cities will play a key role in replicating this success.

The Union Cabinet recently approved 12 new industrial cities in various states, aiming to boost domestic manufacturing with a significant investment. These industrial areas will be strategically located along major corridors, contributing to India’s economic growth.

Mittal also highlighted the growth of Global Capability Centres (GCC) in India, showing a promising 10-12% annual increase. With these developments, India is poised to achieve its goal of becoming a developed nation by leveraging the potential of upcoming technologies.
