US Seizes Aircraft Belonging to Maduro’s Fleet
Venezuela’s Chavista Government labeled the seizure of an aircraft used by President Nicolás Maduro in the Dominican Republic by US authorities as “criminal piracy.” The US Department of Justice seized the Dassault Falcon 900EX, accusing it of violating sanctions against Caracas.
The Venezuelan Foreign Minister denounced the US actions, emphasizing the abuse of power and intimidation in coercive measures. The aircraft was smuggled out of the US in 2023 and utilized by Maduro for international travel.
The Dominican Republic cooperated with the US and grounded the plane for investigation, citing activities related to fraud, smuggling, and money laundering. This unprecedented move sparked controversy, with the US reiterating the message that nobody is above the law.
The Dassault Falcon 900EX, capable of carrying 16 passengers, boasts a cruising speed of 892 km/h and an autonomy of 8,334 kilometers.
