The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is calling on President Joe Biden to value Palestinian and Israeli lives equally following the recovery of hostages in Gaza. CAIR urged Biden to condemn the murder of a Palestinian man from the West Bank who was tortured in Israeli custody. Nihad Awad, CAIR’s National Executive Director, emphasized the importance of valuing every innocent human life, regardless of nationality.
CAIR also welcomed Biden’s remarks about Netanyahu’s handling of the hostage situation, but stressed the need for action to be taken. The organization reiterated its call for Biden to compel Netanyahu to agree to a ceasefire to end the Gaza conflict and release all hostages and political prisoners.
Israel estimates over 100 hostages are still held by Hamas in Gaza, with mediation efforts hindered by Netanyahu’s insistence on continuing the war. The ongoing conflict has resulted in a high number of casualties and severe humanitarian crises in Gaza, leading to accusations of genocide against Israel.
