A devastating fire incident at the Oranyan Market in Ibadan left over 40 shops completely razed to the ground. The traders, mostly dealing in herbs, suffered immense losses amounting to millions of naira. Despite the destruction, no lives were lost in the incident which occurred on Saturday.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, leaving the shop owners in shock and confusion. Some victims expressed their despair over the situation, with one lamenting the loss of recently acquired items and another highlighting the financial implications of the incident.
The General Manager of the state fire service confirmed the incident, stating that while valuable property was lost, no casualties were reported. The affected traders are now left to rebuild their livelihoods and recover from the devastating fire.
