Survivors consider scoping report on sexual abuse as ‘credible’

A recent scoping report into sexual abuse at schools run by religious orders has brought validation to survivors’ stories, according to testimonials shared on Prime Time. The report highlighted 2,395 allegations of sexual abuse in 308 schools, involving 884 alleged abusers over multiple decades.

For abuse survivor Michael Mansfield, the report reignited his determination to seek justice against those responsible for the trauma he endured at Willow Park and Blackrock College. Similarly, Corneilius Crowley and Mark-Vincent Healy expressed hope for answers and accountability through a statutory inquiry, despite concerns about prolonged timelines.

As survivors reflect on the impact of their abuse, they emphasize the urgency of addressing institutional failings and providing support to those affected. With a call to action for legal redress, accountability, and government intervention, these survivors seek to prevent further harm and promote a safer future for all.
