PASOK, the socialist party of Greece, is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary with an event in central Athens.
The celebration will feature speeches by party leader Nikos Androulakis, former presidents and prime ministers Costas Simitis, George Papandreou, and Evangelos Venizelos, as well as a concert honoring the late music composer Yiannis Markopoulos.
The event will also pay tribute to the founding members who signed the declaration in 1974 and will take place at the Zappeion at 7.30 p.m.
PASOK, founded by Andreas Papandreou, a prominent Greek economist and politician, has played a significant role in Greek politics, with Papandreou serving as prime minister for three terms.
