Pro-Palestinian protesters march through NYC in Labour Day parade

Despite it being a quiet public holiday in New York City, anti-war activists and pro-Palestinian protesters took to the streets, reminding everyone of the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Thousands marched through Manhattan, demanding an arms embargo against Israel, a ceasefire, and an end to the occupation of Palestine. They emphasized the need to focus on Gaza rather than getting distracted by election fever.

Protesters voiced their opposition to the genocidal actions of both Republicans and Democrats and called for an end to support for Israel. They highlighted the need for universities and institutions to stop profiting from the war in Gaza. In a show of solidarity with Palestinians, demonstrators vowed to continue making officials uncomfortable until the atrocities in Gaza ceased.

Among the protesters was a man who had been shot by the Israeli army in the West Bank. His sign brought attention to the violence faced by Palestinians daily. Others, like a medical student, joined the protests out of a sense of duty to their colleagues facing dire conditions in Gaza. The gathering also featured a fundraiser to support Gaza, showcasing unity and determination to fight for a free Palestine.
