Poland’s Biggest Synthetic Opioid Lab Dismantled

A joint operation between the Polish Police Central Bureau of Investigation (CBŚP) and the Counter Narcotics Department of the National Police of Ukraine led to the dismantling of synthetic opioid and cathinone production sites. Europol supported the operation, resulting in the largest synthetic opioid lab bust in Poland. Seven members of the criminal network were arrested during 38 raids in Poland and Ukraine. Authorities seized 195 kilograms of crystal methadone and dismantled multiple drug production facilities.

Results of the action day include:

  • Arrest of 7 network members
  • Dismantling of largest synthetic opioid lab in Poland
  • Seizure of 195kg of methadone
  • Seizure of 153kg of Alpha-PVP
  • Seizure of drug precursors and chemicals

Highly harmful and lethal substances seized

The seized drugs pose serious health risks, including addiction and death. Methadone, mephedrone, and Alpha-PVP can cause neurological and psychological disorders.

Synthetic drugs as law enforcement priority

Cross-border collaboration and Europol support are vital in combating international drug crime. Europol’s Early Warning Notification system and the European Illicit Laboratory Comparison System assist in tackling synthetic drug production and trafficking across Europe.
