The Government of Eastern Equatoria State recently inaugurated a multipurpose community training center and a Police Protection Unit in Magwi County’s Obbo Payam. These facilities, constructed with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Japan, aim to create a conducive environment for voluntary returnees and improve access to justice.
Dr. Mohamed Abchir, the UNDP Resident Representative, emphasized the importance of creating a welcoming environment for displaced populations. The project not only enhances the rights of citizens but also strengthens community cooperation.
Otim David, the chairperson of the Acholi Community, expressed gratitude for the Japanese government’s support and highlighted the significance of the new facilities. Japanese Ambassador Toshio Adagire commended the Magwi Community for their collaboration in making the project a success.
Eastern Equatoria State Governor Louis Lobong Lojore urged the community to take ownership of the amenities and work closely with the police for a safer and prosperous region.
