Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made significant changes in his government, with six officials, including ministers, resigning as part of an anticipated government reshuffle. The resignations come at a critical time during the war with Russia, with key positions left vacant.
Zelenskyy aims to create order before his trip to the United States to present a “victory plan” to President Joe Biden. Changes in the government and president’s office are expected to strengthen Ukraine’s state institutions for the challenges ahead.
Among the resignations are ministers responsible for weapons production, European integration, justice, environment, and reintegration. Zelenskyy also dismissed his deputy chief of staff, Rostyslav Shurma, focusing particularly on the economy.
David Arakhamia, a senior lawmaker in Zelenskyy’s party, hinted at a comprehensive government reset, with more than half of the ministers expected to change. The reshuffle includes potential new roles for officials like Olha Stefanishyna in a bigger ministry combining European integration and justice.
The changes highlight Ukraine’s strategic realignment and commitment to achieving critical results amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia.
