Marrakech Security Crackdown: 10 Days of Intense Policing
For the past ten days, the Marrakech Security Prefecture has been on high alert, cracking down on crime and traffic violations to ensure public safety and combat reckless driving.
During the latest operation on September 2-3, a total of 425 individuals were apprehended, including 122 individuals with outstanding national warrants and others engaged in activities against public morals. This ongoing effort to tackle criminal behavior and maintain public security has been a top priority for law enforcement.
Aside from addressing crime, authorities have also been keen on improving road safety. The crackdown on traffic violations led to the seizure of 46 vehicles due to dangerous driving practices. Additionally, 1,091 citations were issued, with 570 related to motorcyclists not wearing helmets. Furthermore, eight individuals are currently under investigation for providing unlicensed transportation services.
This comprehensive security operation involves various agencies within the Marrakech Security Prefecture, including judicial police, urban authorities, traffic enforcement units, and support from central National Security services.
Overall, the ten-day campaign has resulted in the arrest of 2,956 individuals and the impoundment of 415 vehicles, highlighting the prefecture’s unwavering dedication to enhancing public safety and maintaining order.
