Kaynes Semiconductor Plant Move from Telangana to Gujarat Upsets Opposition Party
Kaynes recently announced its decision to move its semiconductor unit from Telangana to Gujarat, much to the disappointment of the opposition BRS party in Telangana. The decision led to criticism from K T Rama Rao, BRS working president, who emphasized the efforts made by the party to secure the investment for the state.
The Union Cabinet approved Kaynes Semicon Pvt Ltd’s proposal to establish the unit in Sanand, Gujarat, with an investment of Rs 3,300 crore. The facility is expected to produce 60 lakh chips per day for various sectors like industrial, automotive, and consumer electronics.
Kaynes CEO Raghu Panicker had initially committed to setting up the plant in Telangana but later decided to move it to Gujarat. The move was influenced by the advanced ecosystem in Gujarat, including other major chip projects in the region.
Despite the disappointment in Telangana, Kaynes’ decision to set up its semiconductor unit in Gujarat highlights the state’s appeal as a hub for advanced technology projects.
