German troops have officially completed their mission in Niger, announcing the end of their deployment in the West African nation. The withdrawal involved repatriating personnel and equipment back to Germany, marking a significant shift in international military presence in Niger.
The joint statement from the Ministries of National Defense of Niger and Germany highlighted the successful coordination between the two armed forces during the withdrawal process. Despite the pullout, both countries have committed to ongoing military cooperation.
This withdrawal follows similar moves by other nations, with French soldiers leaving Niger in 2023 and American troops set to depart by September 15. Germany had previously announced its intention to end operations in Niger, with the completion of the withdrawal by August 31.
