The latest issue of the Communist Party’s top theoretical journal, Qiushi, has brought attention to the threat posed by “subversive” “foreign forces” attempting to influence China’s youth. Excerpts from a speech given by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the National Education Conference in 2018 were highlighted, emphasizing the dangers of attempts to “Westernize” the youth and incite a “color revolution” in the country.
Xi Jinping’s speech warned of ongoing efforts by hostile forces to undermine the party’s leadership and the socialist system in China. He stressed the importance of strengthening ideology education in schools to counter these influences.
The speech also referenced a statement by Mao Zedong regarding the impact of imperialist activities on different generations in China. Xi noted that while the first and second generations after the founding of the People’s Republic of China were immune to such influences, the third and fourth generations could be vulnerable.
