US Seizes Private Jet Connected to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro

The United States has confiscated a private jet linked to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, alleging that it was illegally obtained and smuggled out of the country in violation of US laws.

The US Department of Justice seized the Falcon 900EX in the Dominican Republic and flew it to Florida, claiming it was purchased for $13 million through a shell company.

Attorney General Merrick Garland stated, “The Department will continue to pursue those who violate our sanctions and export controls to prevent them from using American resources to undermine the national security of the United States.”

The jet was reportedly used for official visits abroad by Maduro and his affiliates, breaching US export controls and sanctions.

The White House National Security Council called the seizure “an important step” in holding Maduro accountable for his actions.

US Attorney Markenzy Lapointe praised the Dominican Republic authorities for their assistance in organizing the seizure, emphasizing the US commitment to enforcing export control laws.

This move highlights the US government’s dedication to imposing sanctions and consequences for those who attempt to circumvent the law.
