The 18-year-old was left with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after the stabbing on Leon Street in Salisbury North, north of Adelaide.
Witnesses told 9News the victim had only left his home four minutes before he was found with stab wounds just a few hundred meters away.
Family members ran to help the teenager after a nearby neighbor spotted him on Alexandra Street.
Neighbor Qassem Alhariri was one of the first on the scene after hearing the victim repeatedly honk his horn.
“I went to him and the car was full of blood and he was just shouting, ‘Help me, help me’,” Qassem Alhariri told 9News.
