Massive Russian Missile Attack on Kyiv Repelled by Ukrainian Air Defense
In the early hours of Monday, Sept. 2, the capital of Ukraine faced a significant assault from Russian cruise and ballistic missiles. The attack included various missiles launched from bombers and an unmanned aerial vehicle targeting the city.
Despite the onslaught, the Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted and shot down over 20 cruise and ballistic missiles. The Russian attack consisted of 58 airborne weapons, including missiles and combat drones.
The defense forces managed to take down a significant number of incoming threats, including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and attack drones. The city of Kyiv witnessed multiple explosions and falling debris, causing damage and injuries in various districts.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the destruction of a boiler room and damage to a metro station entrance. Residents reported finding missile fragments scattered throughout the city, with some requiring medical attention.
Despite the intensity of the attack, the Ukrainian defense forces showed resilience and successfully defended their capital against the massive missile assault.
