US Vice President Kamala Harris criticizes Donald Trump for turning a solemn visit to Arlington National Cemetery into a political stunt for his campaign video. The cemetery, where American heroes are honored, should not be used for political purposes, Harris stated.
Trump’s visit to the cemetery drew backlash as he visited the hallowed Section 60, where political activities are prohibited. Despite facing criticism, Trump defended his actions, claiming that families of fallen service members had requested his visit.
In response, Harris accused Trump of disrespecting sacred ground and engaging in a political stunt. The incident sparked a debate with Trump posting videos on his Truth Social account, with some relatives of the fallen soldiers defending his actions and questioning Harris’ support for military families.
As the veterans’ vote remains uncertain, the Pew Research Center found that military veterans generally favor the Republican Party. The controversial incident at Arlington National Cemetery highlights the intersection of politics and remembrance of fallen heroes in the US.
