Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents looted and set ablaze shops and houses in Mafa village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe. According to the Yobe State Police Command Spokesman, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, with the actual number of casualties yet to be confirmed.
Residents Babagana Goni and Bako Ibrahim reported the attack to the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Station. The armed attackers arrived on more than 50 motorcycles, armed with rifles and RPGs, setting fire to multiple buildings and shops. Many people were killed during the assault, and flyers with Arabic inscriptions were left behind by the gunmen.
This attack comes shortly after the tragic incident at Faudiya School in Geidam Local Government Area, where three students lost their lives in a similar attack. The situation in Yobe remains tense, with security forces working to contain the threat posed by Boko Haram insurgents.
