Explosion in Afghan capital leaves six dead, 13 injured | Taliban News

Explosion rocks southern Kabul, killing six with no group claiming responsibility yet.

An explosion in Qala-e-Bakhtiar, southern Kabul, claimed the lives of six civilians, including a woman, and injured 13 others. The incident, caused by a person wearing explosives, remains unclaimed by any group as investigations are ongoing.

Despite a decrease in violence following the Taliban’s 2021 takeover, the ISIL affiliate in Khorasan Province continues to pose a threat. Known for targeting civilians, foreigners, and even Taliban officials, the group remains a significant security concern in Afghanistan. The recent suicide bombing in a Shia neighborhood that killed 53 people, mostly girls and young women, stands as a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges faced by the country.

In a rare statement, Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid denied the presence of groups posing a threat in Afghanistan. However, the recent attacks by the ISIL affiliate underscore the complex security landscape in the region despite Taliban control.
