The government is set to designate ‘Armed Forces Day’ (October 1st) as a temporary public holiday. President’s office announced that the proposal will be presented at the State Council meeting for approval. Prime Minister Han Duck-soo will preside over the meeting to deliberate and resolve the issue of designating this year’s Armed Forces Day as a temporary public holiday. If the proposal is approved at the State Council, President Yoon Suk-yeol will promptly ratify it.
Prior to this development, the ruling party, People Power Party, had requested the government to designate this year’s Armed Forces Day as a temporary public holiday during a high-level party-government consultative meeting on September 25th. The government indicated that they would consider various factors such as boosting military morale, stimulating consumption, and reducing corporate burdens in their deliberation process.
This initiative aims to honor and commemorate the contributions of the armed forces, enhancing national pride and respect towards the military personnel. Stay tuned for further updates on this significant decision.
