The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leaders have demanded justice for a government official allegedly beaten up by Governor Raghubar Das’s son at Raj Bhavan in Puri. The incident occurred during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit for Lord Jagannath’s Ratha Yatra. The BJD criticized the lack of action by the state government and met with Odisha DGP YB Khurania to address the issue. The party expressed concern over the stalled inquiry and the absence of accountability in the case.
In a memorandum, the BJD highlighted the public outrage and the need for justice in the assault on the Assistant Section Officer. Opposition leader Naveen Patnaik questioned the special treatment of high-profile individuals in such cases. Additionally, the party raised concerns about communal tensions, the hooch tragedy in Ganjam, and other law and order issues during the meeting with the DGP.
The BJD’s efforts to seek justice and accountability in this case reflect their commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting government officials from violence and harassment.
