President Biden criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for not doing enough to secure a hostage deal with Hamas terrorists.
Biden’s comments came after the murder of Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin and five other hostages by Hamas. Biden, along with Vice President Harris, is meeting with a negotiating team to discuss the situation.
Asked by reporters if Netanyahu was doing enough, Biden firmly responded, “No.” He expressed hope for a successful deal, stating, “Hope springs eternal.”
Jonathan Dekel-Chen, the father of an Israeli-American hostage, pleaded for a deal with Hamas. Despite ongoing efforts, he believes Hamas forces are weakened and Netanyahu must act swiftly.
Israel faced protests over the lack of progress in releasing hostages. The pressure is mounting on Netanyahu to bring back the remaining 101 hostages, including seven Americans, taken into Gaza in 2023.
