Azerbaijan’s ruling party retains full trust in parliamentary election – ICAAP

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 2. The recent parliamentary election in Azerbaijan has demonstrated full trust in the ruling party, according to Halil Ibrahim Korkmaz, head of the observer group from the International Conference of Asian TV Political Parties (ICAAP). The New Azerbaijan party secured 68 seats in the new parliament, signaling a strong mandate.

Korkmaz highlighted that the presence of 44 independent MPs in the Azerbaijani Parliament is significant and reflective of developed democracies. The election results, he noted, signify the will of the people and their ability to freely express their opinions.

With a voter turnout of 37.27%, over 2 million voters participated in the election, with 112,749 local observers and 598 international observers monitoring the process. Out of the 990 candidates, 305 represent political parties, showcasing a diverse political landscape.
