The monsoon season in Uttar Pradesh has brought uneven rainfall distribution, leaving farmers concerned about Kharif crop yields. Over half of the state’s districts received below-normal rainfall, impacting regions like Rohilkhand and central areas. Shamli, known for superior paddy crops, recorded only 20.2% of its normal rainfall, affecting farmers like Muqeem Khan. Several districts, including Gautam Buddh Nagar and Amroha, faced significant deficits, forcing farmers to rely on tube wells for irrigation. Climate scientists attribute these imbalances to weaker southeastern monsoons influenced by western disturbances, leading to erratic rainfall patterns. These changes make it difficult for farmers to plan agricultural activities and result in stunted crop growth. BJP MLA Baldev Singh Aulakh acknowledged farmers’ struggles and offered state government support in case of farm losses. Overall, Uttar Pradesh has received 88.5% of its normal rainfall, with some districts experiencing excess rainfall. The unpredictable monsoon patterns highlight the challenges farmers face in adapting to climate fluctuations.
