Tragedy struck on Sunday in Karachi, as three individuals, including two children, lost their lives after being trapped inside a 100-foot-deep well in a residential building near Fawara Chowk in Garden. Deputy Inspector General of South-Zone (DIG-South) Syed Asad Raza reported that the children fell into the well while playing near it.
It is suspected that the victims died due to inhaling toxic gases or a lack of oxygen inside the well. Despite rescue attempts, including a passerby who also lost his life, all three bodies were ultimately recovered. The South police chief has ordered criminal proceedings against the builders of the housing project for negligence.
Rescue operations faced challenges posed by toxic gases within the well, as confirmed by Sindh Government’s Rescue-1122 official Hassaan Khan. The community mourns the loss of Badar Sohaib, 8, and Talha Asif, 10, along with the brave passerby who attempted to save them.
Authorities are conducting further investigations and post-mortem examinations to determine the exact cause of death in this heartbreaking incident.
