The Russian Foreign Minister, Lavrov, has accused Tel Aviv of trying to provoke a war between Iran and Israel by involving neighboring countries. Lavrov stated that while Western powers are seeking to agitate Iran, the Islamic Republic has no interest in starting a major conflict. He also mentioned the possibility of Russia, Iran, Turkey, and Syria holding a meeting in the future to discuss the normalization of relations between Ankara and Damascus. Lavrov highlighted a previous meeting in 2023 between Turkey and Syria which included discussions on defense, foreign affairs, and intelligence services. The tensions between Iran and Israel escalated when the Israeli regime assassinated a Hamas official in Tehran. The incident occurred while the official was attending the inauguration of President Masoud Pezeshkian. Lavrov’s remarks shed light on the complex political dynamics in the region and highlight the importance of diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation of conflicts.
