Manchhar Lake Water Level Surges to RL-117 Due to Rainfall and Flooding

In a recent development, the water level of Manchhar Lake has risen to RL-117 as a result of heavy rainfall and flooding in Kachho’s hilly terrain. Officials from the irrigation department have reported that the water from Kachho’s hilly streams is flowing into the lake, causing disruptions in the land links of various villages.

Due to the flooding, the transportation link between Naing Sharif, Jhangara, and Sehwan has been severely affected, with scores of vehicles stranded in floodwaters. The irrigation department has taken measures to discharge 5,000 cusecs of water from Manchhar Lake into the Indus River.

Moreover, the emergency has been declared at Manchhar Lake, MNV drain, and L.S. Bachao Band by the provincial irrigation department. Efforts are underway to strengthen the embankments and mitigate the impact of the flooding on the nearby areas.
