JUI-F will not join PTI protest, may hold its own: Senator Kamran Murtaza – Pakistan

The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has decided to take to the streets on issues of its own choosing, as revealed by JUI-F Senator Kamran Murtaza in a recent interview. Despite meetings between the senior leadership of JUI-F and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party has made it clear that they will not participate in protests orchestrated by the PTI.

The tension between the two parties escalated when Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari visited JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. While some political experts see these meetings as significant in the context of the upcoming National Assembly and Senate sessions, others speculate that offers may have been made to prevent the Maulana from launching an agitation campaign against the government.

During a talk show on DawnNewsTV, Senator Murtaza stated that the meetings with the prime minister and the president were more social than political. He also clarified that JUI-F had clearly outlined to the PTI the extent of their support for joint actions. The party plans to protest on their own issues but will refrain from joining other parties’ protests for the time being.

Overall, the JUI-F’s decision to maintain independence in their protest agenda adds a new dimension to the current political landscape in Pakistan.
