Israel: Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander killed in Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the killing of Muhammad Katrouy, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s (PIJ) Central Camps Brigade commander, in a central Gaza air strike. IDF reported the joint operation with the Shin Bet led to Katrouy’s death on Thursday. Katrouy’s role in coordinating rocket attacks from Gaza towards Israel and planning attacks on Israeli forces was highlighted. The PIJ has not yet responded to Israel’s claim. The IDF’s recent raid in the northern West Bank aims to prevent future attacks. Concurrently, two Palestinians were killed in Jenin, with concerns raised about hospital operations and Israeli blockades. Further, a significant polio vaccination campaign in Gaza is set to begin soon to combat an outbreak, with over 640,000 children under 10 targeted for vaccination.
