Several universities, like HKUST and PolyU, already have a significant proportion of non-local students. A Baptist University spokesman reported a three-fold increase in non-local student intake for the upcoming academic year.
Universities are working towards reaching their new quotas, with HKUST aiming to recruit more than 500 non-local students annually. UGC data shows that business management, sciences, engineering, and technology programs are top choices among non-local students.
