Ramallah, Palestine: 65-year-old Palestinian Prisoner Dies in Israeli Custody

An elderly person from the Gaza Strip has died “of systematic torture” in Israel’s Ayalon Prison in Ramla, according to rights groups. The death of Nasr Zeyara, 65, brings the total number of Palestinian detainees killed since Oct. 7 to 24. Zeyara was arrested on Dec. 29 and was suffering from a complicated health condition, including burns on the lower part of his body.

Zeyara’s family stated that he and his son were interrogated for hours before being taken into custody. The groups holding Israel responsible for Zeyara’s death, citing brutal treatment and harsh conditions in custody. The ongoing conflict has resulted in thousands of Palestinian deaths and severe shortages of food, water, and medicine in Gaza.

The International Court of Justice has ordered a halt to military operations in the city of Rafah, where over one million Palestinians sought refuge. The situation in Gaza remains dire, with accusations of genocide against Israel. It is crucial to bring attention to the plight of Palestinian detainees and the ongoing conflict in the region.
