The Enugu International Hospital, a 250-bed ultramodern quaternary health facility, has been approved for construction by the Enugu State Government. This initiative aims to reduce medical tourism and position Enugu as a hub for healthcare, research, and training.
The Commissioner for Health, Prof. Emmanuel Obi, highlighted the importance of providing specialized medical services and advanced healthcare levels. Located at Rangers Avenue in the heart of Enugu city, the hospital will offer services that will eliminate the need for Nigerians to seek medical treatment abroad.
Additionally, measures to combat the Mpox disease were discussed during the State Executive Council meeting. The government is committed to raising awareness about the disease and implementing surveillance and prevention strategies.
This development signifies Enugu’s dedication to enhancing the healthcare sector and ensuring the well-being of its citizens.
